Dana Barsky new global head of sustainability strategy

Standard Chartered has appointed Dana Barsky as global head of sustainability strategy and net zero.

Barsky will drive key sustainability agenda items that include overseeing the group’s delivery of its net zero commitments across scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.

She will also be in charge of accelerating sustainability integration across the group’s global businesses as wll as further developing sustainability-related relationships across the public and private sectors.

In addition, the role will include creating new sustainable partnerships that complement the bank’s strategic initiatives and enhance its engagement with civil society.

Based in Singapore, Barsky will report to Marisa Drew, group chief sustainability officer (CSO), and become a member of the CSO management team.

Barsky has more than 25 years of corporate finance, M&A and sustainability experience. She most recently held the position of president of Growth for Good, a publicly listed special purpose acquisition company focused on inclusive, innovative and sustainable companies with strong business fundamentals and high growth potential.

She previously held a variety of sustainability roles at Credit Suisse, including global head of sustainable finance, working with companies to finance their growth and transition to lower carbon-intensive business models.

She was also head of sustainable products and partnerships, creating bespoke sustainable funds and structured products and partnering with leading asset managers, multi-lateral development banks and NGOs to bring sustainable investment opportunities to private banking and institutional clients; and COO of the bank’s sustainability practice.

Drew said Barsky brings extensive sustainability, advisory and capital markets expertise and is “well-positioned to help drive our sustainability strategy and the embedding of our net zero commitment within the bank.
