Simon Dove has joined Instinet in the new role of managing director, head of EMEA liquidity strategy. He was previously managing director at proprietary trading firm Tower Research Capital Europe.
Dove will have responsibly for working with Instinet’s partners to further enhance the liquidity across the firm’s franchise including its own platforms, BlockMatch (MTF) & BlockCross.
The former is a continuous dark MTF for European equities that allows clients to match on its bid, offer or mid-point order books while the latter aims to help clients manage large-in-size orders with post-trade services, commission management and liquidity profile features.
The company said that Dove’s role was designed to ensure that Instinet continues to successfully anticipate the changing liquidity landscape and deliver its buyside and sellside clients access to innovative opportunities for best execution.
Prior to is three year stint at Tower, Dove was managing director as well as director of European business development at Sun Trading from 2010 to 2016.
Previously he spent almost ten years at the London Stock Exchange where he climbed the ranks from a client management consultant to manager of the institutional brokerage business, overseeing key client relationships for the exchange operator’s UK and Italian equities and derivatives markets.
“I worked for the London Stock Exchange and at different prop shops throughout my career and have met nimble, sophisticated tech teams,” he adds. “Instinet has a similar profile of technology capabilities, footorint and ability with the addition of a large client franchise.”
He adds, “For me this is a huge opportunity to be additive and also marries my experiences with working with the sellside.”
