Former S&P Global global business head Sam Barber to lead Rimes data services

Enterprise data management firm Rimes has named Sam Barber as senior vice president, head of data services.

Barber will leverage his data and client management experience working at the executive director level for S&P Global, where he led the firm’s global business development unit, selling ETF and index products to tier-one banks, asset managers, market makers and ETF issuers.

Barber also spent more than five years at IHS Markit, leading the North America product team for the Index and ETF aggregation platform SOLA.

On his new appointment, Barber said: “While providing bespoke offerings remains on our agenda, our clients share common challenges that hamper business growth.

“For example, the extreme pressure to reduce costs, the ability to meet growing regulatory obligations, and simultaneously provide their clients with modern, innovative new services.”

Rimes chief product officer Justin Brickwood said that as Rimes is experiencing unprecedented demand for its data solutions, Barber’s “deep understanding of user needs has injected invaluable insight into the team enabling us to accelerate the deployment of our unique data service offerings”.
