It is not surprising that Brexit is the dominant theme in our asset class focus for our Autumn 2016 issue. The final outcome of the negotiations is far from clear, but Chris Hall sets out the different ramifications for the City of London if it loses it reign in the sector. There will be no shortages of cities who want to steal away the business but duplicating the infrastructure and skillset may not be that easy. Meanwhile Dan Barnes focusses on the technology, and suggests that a great deal of trust must be placed in the decision-making capability of smart contracts if full automation of derivatives trading on a distributed ledger is to be achieved.
