BNPP AM bolsters sustainability centre capabilities

BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNPP AM) appointed two new members to its sustainability centre: Nogoye Dieng as a senior stewardship analyst and Sindhu Janakiram as an ESG analyst, equality lead.

The firm said the hires are to strengthen its stewardship capabilities and research into equality and inclusive growth investment themes.

In her new role. Dieng will focus on voting activities, analysing AGM agendas and ensuring the application of BNPP AM’s detailed voting policy, as well as being involved in company engagement on a range of ESG issues.

Janakiram joins the sustainability research team as the lead researcher on ‘S’ topics.  He will also be responsible for supporting the team’s work on ESG and UN Sustainability Development Goal-related data/model development, corporate issuer and thematic investment research, and sustainability integration across BNPP AM, as well as company engagement and social-themed product development.

Previously, Dieng was a senior specialist in charge of signatory relations at Principles for Responsible Investment, Prior to that, she worked for the Institutional Shareholder Services as deputy head of French governance research and was in charge of the proxy voting research and policy for the French market.

Janakiram joins from Refugee Integration Insights (RII), which he co-founded in 2020 as the first specialised provider of private sector refugee data and insights.  Prior, he was a senior associate at PWC.

 “These two new appointments bring significant additional expertise, and will contribute to the quality of our collective research and engagement,” said Jane Ambachtsheer, global head of sustainability at BNPP AM.

She added, “This demonstrates the importance of sustainability to our firm, and specifically, our focus on bold stewardship and addressing the themes of equality and inclusive growth.”
